Student Volunteer NewsFacebook Group
Join our Facebook group! It's a great place to get to know your fellow SVs, find roommates for the conference, and get answers to SV-related questions:

Hotel Accommodation
The conference rate at the San Diego Hilton Resort will be $189 per room. Unfortunately there is nothing more affordable within walking distance. We are currently working on booking a block of rooms at a hotel about 2 miles away. The rate for that will be under $100 a
night, and it will be a fairly inexpensive taxi ride from/to the
conference hotel. We will get back to you in the next few weeks with
further details.
Registration
As a student volunteer your conference registration fee will be
waived. Registration for the conference is not yet open. Once it opens (sometime in mid-August) we will contact you with a special code that you will be able to use to register.
Visa Information
Unfortunately, we are not able to offer visa letters for student
volunteers. If you are presenting your work at the conference and want a visa, please look for information on the registration page (when it opens in August).
Arrival and Departure Dates
We require that all SVs arrive in San Diego by Sunday night (November
9th) and stay until the end of the conference on Wednesday (November
12th). Please make travel plans accordingly. If you think these date restrictions will be a problem for you please contact us and we'll see if we can work something out.
T-Shirt Sizes
The SV t-shirt order for CSCW 2008 will be submitted shortly. We'll
be providing both regular and female-cut shirts this year. If you
haven't already done so, please make sure that the size you entered in your chi-sv.org profile is accurate. We'll be submitting the sizes to the t-shirt company on Friday, July 25th.
Lottery has been run
We ran the lottery in early June. Hopefully by now everyone has gotten an email letting them know whether they are an accepted SV or are on the waitlist. You can also check your waitlist status by logging into your account at chi-sv.org. We've already had some movement on the SV list and have been able to move several people up into accepted status!
